Justin Taylor is the President and Owner of the Junior Tae Kwon Do School, Inc and Taylor's U.S. Tae Kwon Do. This is a well-established business that has been operating since 1979. In 2005, Justin purchased the business and set out on his journey to grow the art of Tae Kwon Do.
Justin noticed that there was a huge lapse in leadership and wanted to correct this. "The students' morale was low and there was very little motivation for them to progress past Black Belt." stated Justin about the spirit of the school. Who did he turn to? Joe Lawrence. Justin and Joe have been very close friends since 1994.
Justin being overwhelmed with every other aspect of the business asked for help from his long time friend. Joe was asked to create a program to teach leadership qualities to his current class leaders and to cultivate tomorrow's leaders. "Barely a month later Joe sent me a binder outlining different levels of leadership, the training programs for each level, and even a system of rewards to motivate them!" The binder Justin is talking about was the beginning of his book, Inspire Tomorrow.
"Joe doesn't believe in throwing people a fish for dinner he wants them to learn to fish." He exemplified this by coming to Ohio from his home in South Carolina to kick off the new leadership program. He taught seminars to students and instructors setting a strong foundation for what was to come.
Justin noticed immediate results in morale, the flow of communication and most importantly teamwork. "But he wasn't done!" continued Justin. "He sent me training schedules for each class to get the best out of the program. There were team-building exercises and so much more. He even drafted a letter for me to send to the student's teachers. This letter got the whole picture on their performance." When asked about the impact of that letter, "I was amazed! Grades were improving, better teacher to parent communication and excellent feedback to me from the parents."
"Joe is my personal leadership coach, hands down", declared Justin, "because of his dedication, I am now home-growing leaders." That is not all. Justin went on to say that the school is also attracting leaders to come in and train. There are two Eagle Scouts that are active students.
In 2006, Justin's school was presented an award by Grandmaster Y.K. Kim's organization, AMS. The award was for "Most Improved School for 2006" based on "Outstanding Leadership for Martial Artists." To top that Justin's school was just nominated for the 2007 award in the exact same area.
"I can't imagine our school improving that much without Joe's help and many very dedicated instructors teaching his leadership system." Justin went on to say, "Our reach is growing outside of my school's doorways. Last year we were voted by the local community as the Best Martial Arts School in the County. We were then featured in the Tribune's, 'Best of the Best' series."
"The bottom-line is that without Joe, I would have still grown my school. However, it would have taken 5-10 years to get everything on track. I never expected to be gaining national recognition in less than two years!" Exclaimed Justin. "You have absolutely nothing to lose in buying his products. He really knows what he is writing about but you will not believe it until you see it for yourself. What are you waiting for...GO!"
