Christmas or X-Mas
We are only two weeks away from Christ's birthday. People everywhere are rushing about getting gifts for the people on their list. Holiday meals are being planned. Travel plans are getting finalized.

Now!
The time to make a difference is NOW not tomorrow.  We love to push everything off that could be positive in our life and save it for another day.  Unless it is something that really excites us or is something that we feel is ‘do or die’ it can wait.  Is there anything wrong with doing that?...

Free Will
Suppose one day a space ship landed and an alien being emerged. Within a very short time, it becomes apparent that this alien and his cohorts are of a vastly superior race, with powers and technology far in advance of our own. He can wave his hand and AIDS and cancer and birth defects vanish from the planet...

New Covenant Law
When I was a kid, I used to love to watch the old Perry Mason TV show. This was the original black-and-white show, before Raymond Burr turned into Orson Wells. I always got a kick out of Perry trying to explain to the jury the difference between the letter of the law and the spirit of the law...

New Covenant Law II - The One Commandment
How many ways are there to say "Love your neighbor as yourself"? Jesus found at least two ways. Compare Matthew 7:12 with Matthew 22:35-40...

New School Prayer
I received this in an email. It was written by a high school student in response to the request for the
removal of God from the Pledge and the actual bannning of prayer in school...

The Holy Trinity Explained!
If God is God then how can he be the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost?  The Holy Trinity is a key foundation to Christianity, although, this is definitely one of the most confusing concepts of Christianity.  I am going to do my best over the next few paragraphs to explain this concept...

How can God love me?
Have you ever heard someone say or maybe even said this yourself, “If I walked across the threshold of the church it would burn to the ground.”  Many of us think that actions we have been involved in would make God hate us or disown us.  We may even wonder how He could possibly even love me at all...

Battle at Kruger
The following video is absolutely unbelievable. It contains a herd of water buffalo that is gets chased by a pride of lions in Kruger, Africa. One buffalo is singled out and attacked by the lions. During the attack a crocodile grabs the buffalo and has a game of tug-o-war with the lions. The lions win. Meanwhile the buffalo herd returns and well let's just say it is a happy ending...

John 13:19 - Just Some Thoughts
My studies for the past while have been in John's Gospel.  It has been really good to say the least.  I've gone through such passages as the woman caught in adultery, the changing of water into wine, and Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem to name a few...

Spiritual Food
I've started on perhaps the most descriptive and intriguing chapters of the New Testament: John 15.  As you may know, this is the one that describes us in relation to Christ as the branches to a grapevine; in Jesus's words, "I am the true grapevine, and my father is the vinedresser."

Music is a Drug?
Have you ever heard a song on the radio and had it stuck in your head all day? You might even sing that song aloud and "infect" others. "Music is the most addictive drug in the world,"...

Consumed by God!
Psalms 15:2-5 (NIV) states: He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous,
Who speaks the truth from his heart and has no slander on his tongue...

July Devotionals - Proverbs 1:1-7 & 1:20-33
This proverb covers the need for wisdom and discipline and the warnings against not seeking it.  In order to have a good life you need to do what is right and what is fair- discretion is gained through wisdom.  Wisdom gives the simple-minded people a purpose and the youth will benefit from wisdom by learning to be more discerning.

August Devotionals - Matthew 1:18-25 & 15:7-11
The birth of Jesus came about as His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph.  Mary was then found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.  Since Joseph was a righteous man and did not want Mary to be publicly disgraced, he was going to divorce her quietly.  But soon after considering this, an angel appeared to him in a dream and told him not to be afraid and to take Mary as his wife.

We Must Stretch for God
God has a purpose for all of us.  Before He even created us, He knew the contributions that we would have on His kingdom.  He constantly tests us and grooms us to become what He wants us to become. David said that God knit him together in his mother’s womb and that God knows his inmost being.

Nothing too Taboo
My question for Christian parents, as well as every Christian mentor out there, is why do we shy away from teaching the tough topics?  The topics of sex, drugs, alcohol, lust, etc.  These issues are considered too taboo to talk about much too often.
