Music is a Drug?

Have you ever heard a song on the radio and had it stuck in your head all day? You might even sing that song aloud and "infect" others. "Music is the most addictive drug in the world," is a statement made by the rap group, The Lost Boyz. Although this is not a Christian group they deliver a powerful message that teaches a valuable lesson for our walk with Christ.

Knowing that music is this addictive should motivate you to control what you're listening to. Imagine this, you listen to a song from a Christian group and have that stuck in your head all day and sing it out and infect others. You are now keeping the Lord in your mind continuously and possibly even witnessing to an unbeliever at the same time! Think of the opposite and listening to a song that degrades others or is filled with profanity. Now all day you have that negativity in your mind and are adding another divider between you and Christ.

Many of you are thinking that this sounds great but Christian music is so boring! Sure many of the Hymns that are sung in church may not be what you want to listen to on your way to work. The good news is that there are Christian bands that perform in all genres. The following groups are only a handful of what is actually out there. If you like soft rock there is Mercy Me or Jeremy Camp. For the hard rock fans there is Pillar, Skillet, Thousand Foot Krutch or Kutless. The list is practically endless and will satisfy almost any taste. It will only take you a few moments to sample a few of their songs from a site like Amazon.com for you to make up your own mind. It is a discovery that could help you to win others for the Kingdom. It is not always easy to bring up religion to the many skeptics that are afraid of being preached to but it is easy to listen to music. Even better is that your daily fix of music that infects your mind all day is God-inspired!
