The Facts You Were Never Told About Abortion. |
| |
Everyone has very strong opinions when it comes to abortion. Many are in favor of abortions and their reasoning favors abortion when the women are too young or can not afford to raise a child. Those on the outside do not want abortion banned to protect those women that may have been raped or could suffer injury or death during birth. Protectchoice.org warns women that 77% of those leading the fight against abortion are the men who do not have to carry that child. Other sites tell women to make a pro and con sheet as to how raising a child would “interfere” with their dreams and plans for the future. They all give the option of adoption or going the full-term, but they also paint adoption as a way to be free of carrying the child. Once again, none talk about the growing life inside. In 2004, 98% of all U.S. abortions are personal choice with being too young and not economically set being the top two reasons. Roughly translated, birth-control! According to a study by PRCH & Guttmacher almost half of all pregnancies are “unintended.” This totals to approximately 3.1 million “unintended” births each year. Of those 14% result in miscarriage and 44% give birth. That means that 42% (or 1.3 million) see abortion as an answer. Planned Parenthood claims “Serious psychological disturbances after abortion occur less frequently than after childbirth.” This shows that they are going a step beyond consoling a woman thinking of choosing abortion they are trying to convince women to not have their baby at all. However, Planned Parenthood is in essence telling the truth. Most women do not begin to experience regret until one year after the procedure and that pain increases with time. That is a fact that is not in their pamphlet. Many Christians argue that it is atheist or non-Christian women pursuing this option when in fact 70% claim to be Protestant or Catholic (guttmacher.org, 2006). This is a testament that Christian women are not being educated that there are moral options. For example, there are Crisis Pregnancy Centers (http://www.pregnancycenters.org/) that help you to make an informed decision. These Centers are also there for those women who may have had the abortion procedure and would like to seek counseling. Many of the women who are faced with this decision in the first place are underprivileged and not highly educated. They are not the women that can afford the medical care of birthing a child or even raising a child. Please educate all women that there are options other than abortion and help them to locate Crisis Pregnancy Centers (http://www.pregnancycenters.org/). Finally, please support those centers that operate from your donations. They are not allotted the tax money that abortion clinics receive.
