There are tours available for everything. I would recommend reading the book or watching the movie, “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.” Everywhere you go you will hear about it. Savannah has odd rules for parking on the streets. It is not difficult to find a spot in a good location. Just make sure that you look for the street sweeping schedule that will be on signs on that road. You will be towed if you park there on a sweep night. Eats... Mrs. Wilkes House – This place is not your traditional restaurant. For starters you stand outside of the house and wait to be called in, and then you proceed to your community table of about 10 people. Here all the food is all laid out for you as if you were at a family feast. You pass the plates around and keep eating till you are done. The food has a home-cooked feel to it and every bite is amazing. It is located off of Jones St. They are open only on weekdays and remember they only accept cash. – posted by joeylaw Jazz’d - This is a fun restaurant that is well known by the locals. The theme is Jazz music and there are no entrees, only appetizers. The food is great however; the drinks are a bit expensive. There is live music on certain nights so make sure you call ahead. They are located near the city market and I recommend the mango mojito. – posted by joeylaw Lady and Sons – This is Paula Dean’s restaurant and is very popular. You have to arrive hours in advance to put your name on a list to eat. The times are easy to find. The food is very good and well worth the hassle. – posted by joeylaw 700 Drayton – A very elegant restaurant that is located within the Mansion at Forsythe Park. The cost is high but the food and service are excellent. – posted by joeylaw
Places to stay... The Mansion at Forsythe Park – The mansion is thee nicest hotel I have ever stayed in. The rooms are very elegant and everything in the rooms is of high quality. I stayed in the first upgraded room with a park view. The view was not that great, but everything else was unbelievable! The prices are not really that much more than many other hotels and they are Savannah’s only 5-Diamond. There is valet parking for a daily cost, but parking on the street is not too difficult to find. You will not be disappointed! – posted by joeylaw
