Eats…

Warren has a strong Greek and Italian presence and the food of that area greatly reflects this.  Therefore, any Greek or Italian restaurant in the area is pretty much a guaranteed winner.  The locals eat and crave four separate locations that many from outside the area may not even hear about.  These establishments are the Hot Dog Shoppe, Buena Vista, Sunrise, and the Nest Egg Diner.

The Hot Dog Shoppe is located on West Market Street and has a very unique taste to their food.  The food is cheap and very filling.  The chili and cheddar dogs are the best.  However, do not walk out of there without trying one of the milkshakes.  They are very thick and always on point!

Buena Vista is located on the corner of Dana Street and Buena Vista.  They are best known for their Greek fried chicken that has a slight taste of garlic.  There are very few places where you will find chicken that has a similar taste.

The next location is Sunrise Inn that is on the corner of East Market Street and Elm Road.  They have very good Italian food that is not extremely expensive and are a favorite to many.  They are best known for their pizza that uses a parmesan cheese instead of the usual mozzarella.  I have never seen pizza like this anywhere in the world.

The last place is the Nest Egg Diner on the corner of Larchmont and University.  They are better known as Jack’s Diner, Big Jack’s, or the Fork and Spoon.  The appearance of the diner is a little intimidating at first but once you bite into the food you will forget about all of that and want more.  The best and only thing that I have got over the past 20 years is the Big Jack.  It is an omelet that has everything in it including tomatoes, mushrooms, hash browns, cheese and just about everything else.  If you add a little bit of hot sauce or ketchup they are even better, however, bring your appetite because they are huge!  If you like just get the little jack which is half the size.  They are open everyday for lunch and Thursday night until Sunday afternoon.
